I have been suffering from Chronic Prostatitis for more than 10 years. Over the years I have tried almost every method available to help me reduce pain and bring on healing, from conventional Western Medicine to alternative antibiotics, massage therapy, nutrition, Eastern healing techniques and many more. Initially diagnosed as Non Bacterial Prostatitis, then later on as Bacterial Prostatitis my condition was treated with various antibiotics. It worked at first, but relapses occurred more and more frequently and about 5 years in it became clear that antibiotics were not only failing, but had made things worse. The turning point came during a meeting with my urologist, where he urged me to stop treating with antibiotics, but did not have any other treatment method to offer, except steroids or pain killers. I had reached the end of the line as far was Western Medicine was concerned.
It was then when I started looking more intensively at other methods, focusing initially on alternative antibiotics such as colloidal silver and electromagnetic pulsers, but with limited success. I continued educating myself, learning more about systemic treatments such as colon cleanses, stimulating the lymphatic system to transport off toxins, the benefits of nutrition, elimination of allergy inducing foods (e.g. gluten), effects of sugar and resulting yeast problems, regular exercising, stress reduction, anti-inflammatory supplements, and eastern techniques.
In the process of applying various healing techniques and self-observation I noticed that my condition often deteriorated on a Tuesday night. At the time I held a rather stressful engineering desk job and I attributed the deterioration to work stress. However I soon realized that I had no relapses on Tuesday when I was travelling to customers or visiting tradeshows, still being exposed to the same amount of stress, but I was standing or moving all day.
It then dawned on me that my sitting in front of the computer for hours at a time could be one of the major causes for my problems. Indeed subsequent research showed that continued pressure on the prostate from prolonged periods of sitting may cause prostate problems, due to reduced circulation in the pelvic area around the prostate. The idea of a special prostate cushion, reducing pressure and increasing circulation while sitting was born. With some professional help across two continents a cushion product was designed, tested, and patented. The iterative design process took more than a year as the cushion needed to be fully discreet , help improve circulation, and still be comfortable to sit on. My wife took the design and started commercializing the idea, resulting in cushion products based on the ProstaCushion SystemTM and distributed by Biolectrix.
Sitting on the cushion has certainly made a big difference for me personally and has helped me with my condition. However, I am the first to admit that the improvements I experienced are to be attributed to a combination of many things such as new and different lifestyle and behaviors that I adopted as part of my quest to get better. The use of the cushion for sitting while sitting over long periods was only part of the puzzle.

After having changed my lifestyle I am a much healthier person today. I can’t say my Prostatitis is completely gone, but my attacks occur less frequently and with less intensity. The disease has gone from very painful and frequent to a fully manageable condition, with only some occasional flare ups – treated with herbs – that have little impact on my daily life.
